Eventually, the swirling words spelled out, “There’s No Place Like Home.”

“That’s it!” said Jay, pointing at the page.

Theresa narrowed her eyes. “What?” she asked.

“I found a framed needlepoint in the garage,” Jay explained. “It said ‘There’s No Place Like Home,’ just like that page!”

Theresa narrowed her eyes at Jay. “You didn’t tell me about that,” said Theresa.

“I didn’t think it mattered at the time,” Jay said.

“There is a powerful spell on your house,” Mr. Jenkins said, squinting at the book. “According to this book, nearly every house in Ravens Pass has a similar spell on it.” He closed the book softly. “That would explain why so few people ever leave this place.”

“Thanks, Mr. Jenkins,” said Jay. He turned toward Theresa and grabbed her wrist. “Let’s get home,” he said as he pulled her toward the stairs. “Maybe if we destroy that needlepoint, the spell will be broken.”

Theresa nodded. “And the house will have to let us leave,” she said.

As Theresa and Jay hurried up the steps, they heard Mr. Jenkins laugh.

“This is Ravens Pass!” he cried out between chuckles. “It’s never that easy.”
